Jan. 3: Aggie Land

Aggie Land, home of a much-maligned class of people. For whatever reasons, my longtime Louisianan homeland always seemed to absolutely delight in belittling & ridiculing “Aggies”.

Why Louisianans could claim superiority to these people, who I and lots of other La. folks probably never even much met, i’m not sure at all. Surely is interesting to me, why all the disdain from my La. Brethren on the Aggies. Maybe because they feel like hicks themselves, best to knock the hicks down the road down a peg.

Anyways, all that’s to say, my meetings with so-called Aggies, my couchsurf host Patrick, the man at the gas station who helped point me the better way to A&M, the man I met right before I rolled out to Huntsville at a cafe, all top-notch humanity. Aggies truly are people too, and from my timy sample I saw during 24 hours, very good people at that.

Nothing serious, just musing on how we can get caught up in denigrating “the other”.

Anyways, some pics from Aggie Land:
